  I contacted this office regarding my 80 year old mother because she had broken her ankle 7 months prior and had been airlifted to Evansville for emergency surgery to repair her compound fx. Since then, we have been shuttling her back to Evansville for follow-ups-- which is over an hour drive every few weeks. We discovered an ortho doc, Kevin Koth, was now at Harrisburg Medical Center so I contacted them on my mothers behalf. What I got from the office staff was similar to the Spanish inquisition; they needed her complete records, a written referral also stating why she being referred in addition to her medical condition. I had them faxed but they couldn't find them so I had them refaxed the next day to a different number-- which they received. It was't good enough to explain to her the doc was retiring and his facility was too far too drive; she was emphatic it had to be written in the referral itself. I felt the office staff I interacted with to be very condescending and made me feel as though I needed to jump through hoops to even get in; it was their way or the highway. I also explained she was having some pain and needed to get in Asap and she told me it could be as long as 4 weeks and couldn't even make an appointment until they received the referral, records and statements by the referring doctor as to the specific reason she needed to change physicians. The Evansville office offered to call Koth personally to explain the case to them and the front office girl declined the offer. So, I had the Evansville doc's office fax the records and, even though I confirmed the correct number, Koth's office never located them. I had them faxed again and the next day I received a call from the Evansville doctors office who told me when they had called to tell them they were sending the referral the receptionist at Orthopaedic Institute told her they reviewed my mom's chart and couldn't accept her since it had to be over a year since surgery to accept the patient. This was news to me since I had made them very aware her accident was 7 months ago in my initial call to them. Koth's office didn't even have the professionalism to call me themselves and give me this information. So much for doctors Hippocratic oath. I don't know the ability of Kevin Koth but if it's as unprofessional, uncaring and disorganized as their front office I would avoid this place. I know it's the only ortho in the area; and, evidentially, they do, too!
